Dejavoo Z8 with AURA — EMV Retail Terminal Guide

This guide covers common tasks on Dejavoo's non-touch screen Z-Line terminal (Z8, AURA software): processing sales, voids, and returns, plus terminal admin functions like batch settlement, reports, and favorites. The idle screen defaults to CREDIT/SALE with a prompt to enter an amount; press the down arrow to change payment type, or the back-arrow key to change transaction type. Default manager password is 1234 unless changed.

Key & Button Reference

  • F1 — opens the SERVICES menu from the idle screen

  • Up/Down arrows — navigate menu options

  • OK — confirm/select

  • F2 — confirm (OK) on amount/void prompts

  • F4 — cancel on amount/void prompts

  • Back-arrow key (labeled "−←") — cycles transaction type (SALE, VOID, RETURN, etc.)

  • Power key — press and hold to power cycle the terminal

  • #: key — opens shortcuts like Add to Favorites

  • Red X X key — back/exit; press 3 times to return to the home screen

Processing Transactions

Chip Credit Sale

  1. Enter the sale amount and press OK.

  2. If prompted, confirm the amount with F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel) — depends on terminal configuration.

  3. Tap (contactless only) or insert the chip card.

  4. Transaction processes and a sales receipt prints.

Manually Entered Credit Sale

  1. Enter the sale amount and press OK.

  2. If prompted, confirm the amount with F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel).

  3. Manually key in the card number.

  4. Follow the card-not-present prompts (expiration date, ZIP code, etc.) — depends on terminal configuration.

  5. Transaction processes and a sales receipt prints.

Debit Sale

  1. From the home screen, use the down arrow to highlight DEBIT and press OK.

  2. Enter the sale amount and press OK.

  3. If prompted, confirm the amount with F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel).

  4. Tap (contactless only), swipe, or insert the card.

  5. Cardholder enters PIN on the terminal or external PIN pad and presses OK.

  6. Transaction processes and a sales receipt prints.

Credit Card Return

  1. From the home screen, press the back-arrow key to highlight RETURN and press OK.

  2. Enter the return amount and press OK.

  3. Confirm by pressing F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel).

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Tap (contactless only), insert, swipe, or manually enter the card number.

  6. Transaction processes and a return receipt prints.

Void Credit Transaction (Card Present)

  1. From the home screen, press the back-arrow key to highlight VOID and press OK.

  2. Enter the void amount and press OK.

  3. Confirm the void amount with F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel).

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Tap (contactless only), insert, swipe, or manually enter the card number.

  6. Confirm the void amount with F2 (Yes) or F4 (No).

  7. Transaction processes and a void receipt prints.

Void Credit Transaction (Card Not Present)

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight FAVORITES and press OK.

  3. Highlight VOID TRANSACTION and press OK.

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Select BY TRANSACTION # and press OK.

  6. Enter the transaction number to void and press OK.

  7. Confirm the transaction details by pressing OK.

  8. If prompted, confirm the void amount with F2 (OK) or F4 (Cancel) — depends on terminal configuration.

  9. Transaction processes and a void receipt prints.

Terminal Administration

Reprint Receipt

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight FAVORITES and press OK.

  3. Highlight REPRINT RECEIPT and press OK.

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Choose LAST, BY TRANSACTION #, or BY CARD NUMBER and press OK.

  6. Choose MERCHANT or CUSTOMER copy and press OK.

  7. Receipt prints.

Settle Daily Batch

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight FAVORITES and press OK.

  3. Highlight SETTLE DAILY BATCH and press OK.

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Terminal communicates with the host.

  6. Settlement report prints.

Printing Reports

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight FAVORITES and press OK.

  3. Highlight REPORT and press OK.

  4. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  5. Choose the desired report type and press OK.

  6. Report prints.

Call Me Feature (must be enabled)

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight MANAGED SERVICES and press OK.

  3. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  4. Highlight CALL ME and press OK.

  5. Highlight the service you need and press OK.

  6. The terminal notifies the help desk, and a representative will call back with assistance.

Turn Clerk Prompt On/Off

  1. From the idle screen, press F1 to open the SERVICES menu.

  2. Highlight CORE and press OK.

  3. Highlight APPLICATIONS and press OK.

  4. Highlight DvCREDITAPP and press OK.

  5. Highlight SETUP and press OK.

  6. If prompted, enter the manager password (1234 default).

  7. Highlight TRANS PROMPTS and press OK.

  8. Press OK to select CLERKS.

  9. Press OK to select PROMPT.

  10. Choose the desired option and press OK.

  11. Press the red X X key 3 times to return to the home screen.

Adding Favorites

  1. From the idle screen, navigate to the menu selection you want to add to Favorites.

  2. Press the #: key, use the up/down arrows to highlight ADD TO FAVORITES, and press OK.

  3. Use the up/down arrows to choose where in the list the new favorite should appear, and press OK.

  4. The selection now appears in the FAVORITES menu.

Power Cycle Terminal

  1. Press and hold the power key on the keyboard and release once the terminal starts to reboot.

Wi-Fi Icon Indicator (Wi-Fi enabled units)

  • A Wi-Fi signal icon on screen indicates the terminal is connected successfully.
